Golden Winners

Each half term each teacher nominates a child to receive a ‘Golden Award’. This could be for a particularly good piece of work, for being a good role model and friend to others, for making extra efforts in their work, or simply for demonstrating our school values throughout their behaviour.

A special assembly is held to which friends and family of the nominated children are invited to attend, and they are presented with a Golden certificate and sticker. Their names are written in the ‘Golden Book’. Their special work is then displayed on the Golden Wall in the Head teacher’s office for the rest of the half term.

Spenborough Swimming Gala 2018

On Wednesday 28th March 2018, the Crowlees Swimming Team attended the Spenborough Swimming Gala. Our team consisted of 6 children from Year 5 and 6, 3 girls and 3 boys. They were competing in breaststroke, front crawl and backstroke. The final race was the freestyle relay. Our team worked really hard and we were delighted that some of our team managed to progress to the finals of their races therefore receiving finisher’s medals.  Tegan received a well-fought silver medal in the girls’ breaststroke. Well done! We are very proud of the whole team, who displayed all the Crowlees Values whilst at the...

Strictly Pennine 2018

Another year, another fantastic performance from our dancers at Strictly Pennine. The group of Year 5 and 6 children have been rehearsing for months in order to be ready to perform on the stage at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield. After last minute rehearsals on Tuesday, the children were ready! However the weather was trying very hard to spoil our plans. Luckily, our show was able to go ahead without any problems. We were lucky to have our performance on the Tuesday as the Wednesday and Thursday shows were cancelled. Both dances, an Indian style dance to a song called Shakalaka Baby and a dance to a Thriller mash up, were fantastic! The children really rose to the occasion and enjoyed their time on stage. We are extremely proud of the dedication put in by the children, and parents, to learn the dances and perform. Miss Wright and Mrs Goldthorpe are already looking forward to next year! Well done!            ...

Mirfield Gym Show 2018

On Monday 12th February, two gymnastic teams performed routines at Battyeford Primary School in front of a packed audience. The children, from Year 1 and 2, had learnt short performances using skills taught in their PE lessons. Both performances were fantastic – the children were super stars! We saw forward rolls, jumps with perfect landings, and a variety of balances, on the floor and on a bench. Well done to Hammad, Edith, Stanley, Scarlett, Louis, Luke, Eva, Sophie, Will, Oliver, Chloe and Maryam.  ...

Spen Valley Sportshall Athletics Final – 18th January 2018

Fantastic team effort from the Year 5/6 athletics team On Thursday 18th January, the Year 5/6 athletics team attended the Spen Valley Sportshall Athletics competition at the Leeds Road sports barn.  Our team were very excited to be taking part and had all attended an extra training session in the previous week to prepare for the event.  We gathered lots of points in the field events with some outstanding jumping and throwing. The boys pulled back much needed points with fantastic results in the track events.  The girls fought hard in the track races, but the competition from the other schools was tough.  Overall, we finished in 3rd place.  We were a little disappointed as this means we don’t progress to the next round. However, we know that we have done really well to get this far!...

Year 4 Mirfield Sportshall Athletics Competition – November 2017

Our Year 4 team of athletes competed at MFG on Tuesday night in a range of track and field events. They were fantastic competitors, cheering each other on and working their hardest. The girls won several of their track events which was impressive. When the results were called at the end, we were delighted to find out that we had finished in 2nd place, just behind Hopton Primary School. Very well done, Year 4!...

U11 Spen Valley Girls’ 7-a-side football – November 2017

Posted on November 24, 2017

The team consisted of girls from years 4, 5 and 6. They played brilliantly and we are very proud of them all. Thank you to Mr Farrar for taking them. This is the girls’ match report: At the start, we were ready to go! There were 4 teams and we played 6 games. Our first game boosted our confidence as we won 5-0 and then continued on playing well – managing to win the next game too.  The same continued for the rest of the tournament and we beat every team. The teamwork was good up front and also at the back. Everyone worked together and we had a successful win. Altogether we scored 20 goals and conceded none. We all won a gold medal and had lots of...
