Golden Winners

Each half term each teacher nominates a child to receive a ‘Golden Award’. This could be for a particularly good piece of work, for being a good role model and friend to others, for making extra efforts in their work, or simply for demonstrating our school values throughout their behaviour.

A special assembly is held to which friends and family of the nominated children are invited to attend, and they are presented with a Golden certificate and sticker. Their names are written in the ‘Golden Book’. Their special work is then displayed on the Golden Wall in the Head teacher’s office for the rest of the half term.

Year 6 boys’ football tournament

A successful evening at the Year 6 boys’ football tournament   On Tuesday 13th November, the Year 6 boys’ football team took part in a tournament with 3 other Spen Valley schools. The boys showed excellent team work skills, encouraging each other and some even sacrificed their own time playing to allow other to take a turn when they felt it would benefit the team.   4 wins and 2 losses meant that Crowlees finished runners up, however we scored many goals and, overall, the boys were happy with their performances.   Impressively, they were able to accept that they had weaknesses in some of the matches (for example, defensively) and tried hard to apply the advice that they were given. Well done, boys!...

Mirfield Sports Hall Athletics competitions for Year 4, 5 and 6

Back to back nights of success at the Mirfield Sports Hall Athletics competitions for Year 4, 5 and 6   This week (20th/22nd November), Crowlees attended two Sports Hall Athletics competitions with success in both! The Year 4 team kicked things off with a win over the other 3 Mirfield schools. An electric atmosphere helped the children to run, jump and throw their way to scoring enough points to secure the win, although it was a close call! Attitudes and behaviour was excellent – the children were a credit to Crowlees.               Two nights later, the Year 5/6 team attended their competition, this time with a pathway position in the next round at stake. Strong performances in the running and jumping helped our team to another victory. The final 4×1 relay races were tense and exciting and we were ecstatic to win both the girls’ and boys’ races! Waiting for the results was stressful! Finally the results were announced and to our delight, Crowlees finished in 1st place! It was another close result, with Crowlees only 12 points ahead of Crossley Fields who finished in second place. Our team were over the moon to be heading as winners into the next round! Well done, Crowlees on a winning week!...

Mirfield KS1 Gymnastics Show

Mirfield KS1 Gymnastics Show A group of 10 children from Year 1 were invited to take part in a gymnastics show at Battyeford Primary School alongside some of the other schools in Mirfield. They showcased some of the work that they had been doing in P.E. with Mr Snaddon and Mrs Midgely over the last 7 weeks. The Year 1 children have been working on balancing, rolling and travelling, ensuring that they held balances for 3-5 seconds and that they rolled with control. The show was lovely and the children performed with confidence! Well done, Year 1....

Cross Country Kirklees Final 9th October 2018

Posted on October 14, 2018

Cross Country Kirklees Final – Tuesday 9th October 2018 This afternoon 13 children from KS2, who had qualified for this round of the cross country competition, attend the Kirklees final in Huddersfield. When we arrived, the atmosphere was fantastic; everyone was excitedly waiting to be called for their races. Arthur was our first competitor in the Year 3 boys’ race. He sped away with the pack and finished in an impressive 27th. Next to race were the girls from Year 4 (Poppy, Matilda, Emily, Lauren and Jessica). All the girls ran extremely well and fought hard to finish in the best position they could. Poppy ran amazingly well and finished in 6th position – wow! Matthew was next to race in the Year 4 boy’s race. He also finished in a fantastic 27th position! We had a short break after this excitement whilst we waited for the Year 5 races to be run. Veronica was our individual runner for the Year 6 girls. Again we watched her speed off around the 1500m course, and saw her finish in an incredible 12th place! Finally, it was the turn of our Year 6 boys. They all ran their absolute best, but admitted that it was a tough course. They places in the late 30s to late 60s and should be extremely proud of their efforts.   Thank you to all our competitors for their hard work and excellent attitudes. Well...

Cross Country Running Competition 27th September 2018

Posted on October 14, 2018

Cross country running competition – Thursday 27th September 2018 Over 60 children from the whole of KS2 took part in the Mirfield round of the cross country competitions which took place at Crossley Fields. The course was challenging; it seemed quite long to some of the children and one side had a gentle slope! There was a great atmosphere; plenty of cheering each other on and congratulating each other on fantastic results. And fantastic results they were… All our children from Crowlees ran well. Our results included some amazing first and second placings across Year 3, 4 and 6. Following these brilliant results, some of our competitors have been selected to run at the Kirklees Final. We will have Veronica (Year 6 girls), Arthur (Year 3 boys) and Matthew (Year 4 boys) running as individuals. In addition, we have 2 teams who qualified: Year 6 boys – Billy, Dylan, Jacob, Liam and Oliver, and Year 4 girls – Lauren, Poppy, Matilda, Jessica and Emily. Good...
