Each half term each teacher nominates a child to receive a ‘Golden Award’. This could be for a particularly good piece of work, for being a good role model and friend to others, for making extra efforts in their work, or simply for demonstrating our school values throughout their behaviour.
A special assembly is held to which friends and family of the nominated children are invited to attend, and they are presented with a Golden certificate and sticker. Their names are written in the ‘Golden Book’. Their special work is then displayed on the Golden Wall in the Head teacher’s office for the rest of the half term.
Well Done to all the Spring Term Golden Winners
Children have been busy taking part in lots of sporting events the last Term. Strictly Pennine and Strictly Mirfield Another year, another amazing dance performance! Our team of Year 5 and 6 dancers worked exceptionally hard to rehearse their dance to Aladdin’s ‘Friend Like Me’. They practised on Tuesday mornings before school for nearly a whole term before the performance, showing real dedication. Mrs Goldthorpe and Miss Wright are extremely proud of the team’s performances and the effort they put in to rehearsing. Thank you! West Yorkshire Cross Country Finals We were extremely proud to have two teams make it through to the West Yorkshire Cross Country finals this year; a team of Year 3 boys and a team of Year 5 girls. On the race day, they were very excited and a little nervous, but they all ran well and enjoyed their races. Poppy ran exceptionally well, finishing in 11th place which won her a place in the national finals. Unfortunately, these were cancelled due to the school closures during lockdown. Hi5 Netball The Year 5 and 6 netball team took part in a netball tournament at MFG. Although they passed and moved really well, they found it challenging to score goals so unfortunately didn’t make it past the first round. On a more positive note though, they were very excited and proud to be the first team to wear our new Crowlees sports t-shirts and hoodies which were kindly sponsored by a parent. Thank you – we think they look amazing! Girls Active: Stepping up for change Some of our Year 5 girls took part in a girls’ leadership day, designed to build confidence and empower girls to take positive action to improve the PE, sport and physical activity experience back in school. This event was run by the Youth Sport Trust....
